PowerHousing Australia facilitates a national network of 38 registered Community Housing Providers (CHPs) who provide social and affordable housing to 90,000 households, with assets worth over $35 billion and 150,000 tenants nationally, the majority being low to moderate income earners and vulnerable Australians. Our members are committed to addressing housing need through growth of supply, best practice in housing and community development, and excellence in tenancy and asset management.
Our vision is to provide an independent voice of leading not-for-profit community housing providers by sharing best practice member exchange.
Our History
PowerHousing Australia began in 2005 when a group of housing executives recognised the need for community housing providers (CHPs) to collaborate to share knowledge and resources to address the emerging housing crisis.
PowerHousing Australia is based in Canberra in close proximity to the seat of Government in Australia. Working closely with our Members and Affiliates we act as the independent voice for the growth providers of social and affordable housing.
Today, PowerHousing Australia has a diverse membership. The common element is the commitment to address housing need through growth of supply, best practice in housing and community development, and excellence in tenancy and asset management.
