PowerHousing Australia welcomes the release of $6 million by the Government to support residential builders in obtaining the necessary safety accreditation for projects funded under the Housing Australia Future Fund Facility (HAFF) and the National Housing Accord Facility (NHAF).

“PowerHousing Australia Members have identified this accreditation as one of the key roadblocks to achieving the target of 40,000 homes built under the HAFF”, said Michelle Gegenhuber, CEO of PowerHousing Australia. “Smaller builders have struggled to meet the accreditation standards, putting over 50% of projects at risk.”

“Our members are ready to deliver more than 26,000 social and affordable homes just under Round 1 of the Housing Australia Future Fund. This is crucial to ease pressure on Australia’s housing crisis we have community housing providers ready to deliver projects for new homes as soon as the results are released,” said Michelle Gegenhuber.

“This support for accreditation will enable more builders to deliver community housing providers projects building the homes Australia needs,” said Michelle Gegenhuber.

“Given the response to HAFF Round 1 and the scale of the housing crisis, we are also calling on the Government to front-end HAFF Round 1 funding and double the investment in the HAFF and the National Housing Accord (NHA). This will enable a secure, long term development pipeline.” said Michelle Gegenhuber.
